The Infinix GT 20 Pro is the latest addition to the gaming smartphone market, and it certainly aims to make a lasting impression. With a design that catches the eye and performance that promises to meet the needs of serious gamers, we at TechBoilers put the GT 20 Pro through its paces to see how it stacks up.

Design and Build Quality
The Infinix GT 20 Pro doesn’t just perform well; it looks the part too. Upon unboxing, we were greeted by an intricate package design that hints at the care taken in the product’s overall presentation. The smartphone itself is available in three striking colors—Mecha Blue, Mecha Orange, and Mecha Silver—each with a distinct, futuristic aesthetic that aligns perfectly with its gaming focus.
The back of the phone features a smooth plastic surface with an underlying pattern, and an LED panel adds a touch of flair, pulsing to the beat of your music or notifications. While the materials may not be premium, the design is certainly eye-catching and practical, with the IP54 rating providing resistance to dust and water splashes.
The physical dimensions are comfortable for a gaming phone, though the side buttons could benefit from a longer travel distance for improved tactile feedback. The inclusion of a case and a screen protector in the box is a nice touch, although the smooth back design would still benefit from a grippier texture to prevent slips.
Display Performance
The 6.78-inch AMOLED display is one of the standout features of the GT 20 Pro. Upon our testing, the screen delivered vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it a pleasure to use for both gaming and multimedia consumption. With a resolution of 1080×2436 and a 144 Hz refresh rate, the display offers a smooth and responsive experience, especially during fast-paced gaming sessions.
We measured the maximum brightness at an impressive 980 cd/m² in bright outdoor conditions, making the screen highly usable even in direct sunlight. The screen also boasts excellent anti-glare properties, and the oleophobic coating keeps fingerprints at bay, ensuring a clean display even after extended use. The automatic brightness adjustment works well in most scenarios, though it could benefit from more user customization options.
One minor downside is the color accuracy, which leans towards oversaturation in the default Vivid Colors profile. However, the Original Color profile offers a more balanced, though slightly greenish, tone, which may appeal to users who prefer a more natural color palette.
Camera Capabilities
The Infinix GT 20 Pro is equipped with a 108 MP main camera, complemented by two additional sensors for depth and macro photography. In our tests, the main camera produced decent images, especially in well-lit environments. Photos captured at the full 108 MP resolution offered a high level of detail, although the benefits over the standard 12 MP mode were minimal unless cropping or printing large images.
Low-light performance was a mixed bag. While noise levels were managed reasonably well, the overall image quality dropped significantly in darker settings, with details becoming less distinct and colors less accurate. The digital zoom is somewhat disappointing, as the 108 MP mode does not deliver the expected increase in clarity, often leading to overly sharpened and noisy images.
The video recording capabilities are solid, with the ability to shoot 4K video at 60 fps—a feature that is still rare in this price range. The footage is generally smooth and detailed, though the color balance can sometimes lean towards the oversaturated side, particularly in bright conditions.
The 32 MP front camera is serviceable for selfies and video calls, providing good detail and decent color reproduction, though it struggles slightly in managing dynamic range in harsh lighting conditions.
Software and User Experience
Often times, I have been not fond of Infinix’s custom UI which they call the XOS. However, with this smartphone, it offers a smooth experience. It runs on the latest Android 14. During our review, we found the interface to be responsive and well-optimized, handling multitasking and app switching with ease. XOS 14 also comes with a clean design, free from the intrusive ads and bloatware. Though, it is not something similar to vanilla Android, so be ready to see a lot of unfamiliar features.
One feature that caught our attention is the Dynamic Port—a clever addition that mirrors Apple’s Dynamic Island concept. This feature creates an interactive area around the front camera, displaying notifications and other important information in a dynamic, user-friendly way. It’s these small, thoughtful touches that enhance the overall experience on the GT 20 Pro.
The stereo speakers deliver clear, robust audio, which adds to the gaming and media experience. However, the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack might be a downside for those who prefer wired audio options. In my opinion, they should have added a headphone jacksince this phone caters to budget gamers.
Performance and Gaming
Under the hood, the GT 20 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, paired with the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. Our tests showed that this combination delivers impressive performance, easily handling demanding games and multitasking without breaking a sweat. The device’s performance in benchmark tests positions it well within the upper mid-range category, making it a strong contender for gamers on a budget.
The gaming experience on the GT 20 Pro is further enhanced by the 144 Hz refresh rate display and Infinix’s AI-VRS algorithm, which intelligently manages system resources to ensure smooth gameplay. Even during extended gaming sessions, the device remained relatively cool, thanks to its efficient thermal management system.
Battery Life and Charging
The GT 20 Pro comes equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. It is a decently sized battery. In our battery tests, the phone managed to last through a full day of typical use, including gaming, streaming, and web browsing. However, for heavy users, especially gamers, the battery life might require a midday top-up.
Charging the device is quick and convenient, with the included 45W charger capable of fully replenishing the battery in under an hour. Unfortunately, the lack of wireless charging is a notable omission, which might be a drawback for those who prefer the convenience of cordless charging. Also, the charging could have been faster at 65W or more considering the market standards these days. But for the price, I won’t complain.
Conclusion & Alternatives
After extensive testing, the Infinix GT 20 Pro stands out as a solid choice for gamers and tech enthusiasts alike. The combination of a striking design, high-performance hardware, and thoughtful software features make it an attractive option in its price range. While there are areas that could be improved, such as the camera’s low-light performance and the absence of wireless charging, the overall package offers great value for those looking for a capable and stylish gaming smartphone on a budget.
