PTA Taxes Reduced By FBR

One of the most controversial topics in Pakistan is the PTA tax on smartphones. On some phones, the PTA tax is more than even the price of the smartphone itself. However, there is great breaking news that there the PTA taxes have been reduced. Here is everything;

PTA Taxes Reduced

The PTA taxes were huge! Especially on iPhone 14 and above models.

People were outraged at how much the tax increased after 2018! For reference, on the iPhone 12 Pro, the PTA Tax was only around PKR 35,000. Then after one year, the tax skyrocketed!

With the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro which launched at $1000 (PKR 250,000 *conversion rate at the time of launch). The PTA tax on that device was more than half the cost of the device at PKR 177,403.

This made thousands of users skip the tax and use their mobile phones without a sim while keeping a secondary smartphone to use mobile data and call others.

Now, suddenly FBR has announced reductions in PTA tax starting today. It is a relief for iPhone users, however, don’t get too excited as there is not much reduction.

Taxes have only been reduced by a little bit.
