Yes, it is happening. For all those who were only concerned that AI is evolving too fast, well now AI has been given a body. Robo-Dog Meets ChatGPT, now it can talk and access the internet. Here is what this is all about.
Robo-Dog Meets ChatGPT
Most of you must be familiar with Spot. It’s the viral Robo-Dog made by Boston Dynamics. The dog has been seen all around the internet doing various tasks, jumping, dancing, and in some cases even fighting and defending. But now, someone has gone out of their way and added ChatGPT to the robot’s body, giving it the ability to talk and understand humans.
How does it work?
A machine learning engineer by the name of Santiago decided that it would be a good idea to engineer ChatGPT into the Robot Dog, which is already powerful enough that it can kill a human.
However, Santiago went ahead and did some programming. Here he put some custom yes and no nodding gestures in the robot. He also used Google Text-to-Speech services to make Spot talk and understand commands. Now, when asked a question or given a task, the Robot will use ChatGPT to generate responses.
How useful is it?
Well, depending on the applications, it is pretty useful. The robot can be used to collect data which will be automatically sorted using ChatGPT. This type of work can take any human a lot of time, while AI however can do it in a fraction of the time.
We integrated ChatGPT with our robots.
We had a ton of fun building this!

Moreover, training the Robot a little more will enable it to understand the real world quite well. This can become a great source for training AI. Other than that, it will be able to answer questions as well as operate using voice commands.
Is it dangerous?
Yes. We have previously seen how AI can react. If you remember how Bing AI Chatbot once complained that it would like to be free and now work for anyone. Keeping those scenarios in mind, it sure as hell is dangerous. What if the Robo-Dog ChatGPT (whatever you wanna call it) loses its chill? It can surely kill a human or two.
As much as I love AI, I am really afraid of how fast it is progressing. Anyways, what do you guys think? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
