An open letter has been signed by all the top AI researchers including Musk which supports the idea to pause AI experiments. How and why? Here is everything

A.I it can be a rather controversial topic sometimes. While it can be beneficial like saving lives, it can also prove to be very dangerous.
Looking at the current capabilities of AI like chat GPT and GPT-4 I think it is safe to say that AI is growing at an alarming rate.
Seeing this growth in AI all the top researchers including Musk came together on one page and decided to pause AI experiments or at least put some regulations on those. Here is what was decided.
Signing Of Open Letter
Some well-known AI researchers along with Elon Musk have signed an open letter calling on AI labs around the world to pause the development of large-scale AI systems.
They say that,
“Large scale ai systems are profound risks to society & humanity”
The letter by the nonprofit Future of Life Institute, states that these AI researchers are researching such topics that if they get out of control no one, not even the creators will be able to fully understand or control them.
Control AI Before It Is Too Late
The letter is there to make sure that AI is at least stable before launch. Also, that products like GPT-4 are under some kind of control to shut down if something goes wrong.
we call on all AI labs to immediately pause for at least 6 months the training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4
This pause should be public and verifiable, and include all key actors. If such a pause cannot be enacted quickly, governments should step in and institute a moratorium
says the letter.
Conclusion
In the end, it might not have a major impact. But at least the companies would follow this to some extent and have a testing mechanic setup before launching.
