IOS 17 is just around the corner and it will be announced with WWDC. But there are some leaks surrounding the IOS software that will have some changes and some compatibility issues with older models.
So, let’s lay out everything about what the IOS 17 will bring and which devices it will support.
IOS 17 Features
IOS 17 will have a lot of new features. Firstly it is said to improve the battery life of the iPhones. Secondly, it is said to enable users to use Widgets on LockScreen as well. Moreover, a rumour says that Apple will allow third-party app stores thanks to EU laws. However, it is very hard to believe that Apple will allow this.
Apart from this, security updates and other minor bug fixes are for sure gonna be included in this update.
IOS 17 Compatible Phones
A few days back there was this list running around showing that IOS 17 compatible devices are as follows;
- iPhone 15 series
- iPhone 14 series
- iPhone SE 2022 (3rd generation)
- iPhone 13 series
- iPhone 12 series
- iPhone SE 2020 (2nd generation)
- iPhone 11 series
- iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max
Now, you can see that there is a lack of iPhone 8, iPhone 8+, & iPhone X in the list. Rumours suggest this is because the phones are over 5 years old and will no longer get software support, but there is another rumour going on.
This suggests that iPhone X will receive IOS 17 as the final update. An anonymous person on the MacRumors forum who accurately predicted the “Dynamic Island” said, “This is completely incorrect.” and that all current iPhones that support iOS 16 will support this one, including all devices that support the A11 chipset.
Both sides of the argument do make sense however, I personally side with the fact that iPhone X and previous models will lose support for OS 17.
IOS 17 will be released along with iPhone 15 release. Speaking of the iPhone 15,
iPhone 15 to be Manufactured in India
Yes, this time a large chunk of the vanilla iPhone 15 Production will be done in India. India will be the supplier of the iPhone 15 worldwide. While not all of the phones will be made in India a large chunk will be supplied.
