GPT-4 is an AI chatbot. But no one knew that this chatbot has a doctorate degree. The following story is about how GPT-4 saved a dog’s life when the vets couldn’t diagnose the illness that it had. Here is how.

GPT-4 Saved A Dog’s Life

Yes, reading the tagline it is hard to believe that an AI that lives inside the computer has saved the life of a real-life dog. And, no, there is not a new invention which can enable AI to see or check dogs, it was all done just by text inputs from the owner.

Cooper & the Dog

How it all started is that Cooper has a pet dog. The dog was diagnosed with a tick-borne disease. Although it was accompanied by severe anaemia, it improved relatively after a period of treatment and medications.

#GPT4 saved my dog’s life.

After my dog got diagnosed with a tick-borne disease, the vet started her on the proper treatment, and despite a serious anemia, her condition seemed to be improving relatively well.

After a few days however, things took a turn for the worse 1/

After a little while, the Dog’s condition got slightly worse. Cooper noticed that the Dog’s gums were looking pale as if the dog was having blood deficiency. So as all, he took the dog to the vet and got it checked out.

Vets Couldn’t Diagnose the disease

The vets ran a lot of tests for various diseases but all the results came out to be negative, so the vet told Cooper to wait and see the dog’s condition as no diagnosis was to be given.

GPT-4 comes to the rescue

Here is where AI comes into play. As not getting satisfied with the vet, the owner decided to take matters into his own hands.

When GPT-4 was released, it gave the results of a test of medical knowledge developed by the American College of Physicians with 75% accuracy.

Maybe GPT-4 is really good at diagnosing disease, Cooper thought, However, he started to type all the blood test details in GPT-4. Here is how the command prompt turned out.

GPT-4 saved dog's life

As you can see, he put all the details including the dates and all the conditions, furthermore, he explained the problem as you would explain to a real doctor. He even mentioned all the medications.

In the end, he added,

“Considering all of the above, what is happening?”

After a few moments, GPT-4 began to answer.

GPT-4 answers

GPT-4 started off by saying

“I’m not a veterinarian but, I can try to help you analyze your blood report and tell your dog what might have happened”

Afterwards, the AI gave a detailed answer and gave him multiple options on what might be happening to the dog.

Moreover, all the information that GPT-4 was giving back was very reasonable, so he further asked

“What do you think other potential problems might include?”

Then again after giving the disclaimer, GPT-4 gave him several options on what might happen.

After looking at all the answers, Cooper ruled out all that the dog had been tested for and in the end, he came to the conclusion that the dog wasn’t tested for IDMA. So, when Cooper brought the dog to the second hospital, he directly asked the doctor if it might be IMHA.

Once again after a few tests, the diagnosis came back positive.

After the diagnosis was successful medications got started and the dog started to get better in no time. GPT-4 saves the dog’s life. Cooper was so happy and shocked at the same time.

Our Thoughts

Looking at how GPT-4 saved the dog’s life and was successful at diagnosing the disease which even professional vets were unable to is amazing.

AI is so powerful, I can’t even imagine where it will be in the coming years. What do you guys think about how GPT-4 saved a dog’s life? After anchors, are now doctors gonna lose their jobs too? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
