Huawei Mate X3 has been officially launched alongside the P60 Series. The latest foldable device from Huawei brings many refinements over its predecessor. Moreover, it competes directly with folding phones from Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo. However, it is not yet the true competitor as the global availability is still in question.
Huawei Mate X3 Design
The design from the back is majorly what the Mate series has always had with some minor changes. Moreover, the cover screen has a 20.9:9 aspect ratio and uniform bezels. The front screen feels like a normal smartphone screen. In addition, the inner screen also has a punch-hole cutout towards the top right. The weight of the device is only 239g and the Mate X3 measures only 5.3mm thick when unfolded.
Huawei Mate X3 Specifications
Firstly, the Mate X3 is powered by the 8+ Gen1 from Snapdragon. The 4G version of the chipset is used as the company is banned from using the 5G modems. Moreover, the cover screen is a 120Hz 6.4″ panel while the inner display is a 120Hz 7.85″ panel. Huawei has integrated two-way satellite communication in this device as well in addition to the P60 series launched alongside.
The new and refined hinge mechanism has enabled the device to fold flat without leaving any space in between. However, the extent of the presence of the crease is said to be minimized. Furthermore, the device packs a 4800 mAh battery with 66W fast wired charging support and 50W of wireless charging support as well.
Moving on to the camera system, the main lens is a 50MP wide angle with an aperture of f/1.8. It is accompanied by 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide and 12MP f/3.4 5x telephoto lens. Lastly, the two selfie cameras on the cover screen and the inner display are both 8MP sensors.
Opinions on Mate X3
There is nothing ground-breaking about the Mate X3. However, this device isn’t about something experimental. It is rather a refinement to solidify its position in the market. The device has some incremental upgrades internally. However, Huawei has made several improvements in durability such as the hinge, IPX8 waterproofing, and an overall sturdy design.
