When we think about the future, we always anticipate our wearables getting smart. For example, smartwatches have come a long way. They can track your sleep, exercises, and whatnot. However, there is always a discussion on the future of smart glasses. There is not much market for this product now. However, Google is keen on making smart glasses better with their new app called Google Glass Enterprise Companion app.
Google claims the Glass Enterprise Companion app is a “portal to connecting your phone with Glass Enterprise devices.”
Google Glass Enterprise Companion app features
It is used for further enhancing the use of Glass Enterprise Edition 2 devices with these features:
• Share WiFi networks
• Set time zones and Glass system language
• Adjust brightness and volume
These apps can now also be managed via the Google Companion app:
• Language: Enabling transcription and translation between multiple languages
• Google Tasks: Integration with Google Tasks to show users’ task lists and engage in reading, completing, and updating tasks
• Enterprise Camera: Capability to take photos and videos and save them directly to the paired phone
Google has also worked on the design language; integrating Material 3 for a beautiful yet simple user experience.
Do note that this app is available just for the Pixel devices namely the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, and 7 Pro. Surely, Google is taking full advantage of its in-house Pixel’s ML-optimized Tensor processor to allow for “more accurate and efficient transcription and translation,” as well as “other overall computing benefits.”
