Xiaomi 13 series will be Xiaomi’s latest premium offering. The launch is expected later this month or in early December. The Chinese brand has revamped the design of the Xiaomi 13 entirely. Previously, the Xiaomi 12 arrived with a curved display and a curved back plate. However, the Xiaomi 13 takes a different approach this time around. The leaks come from a reliable tipster, Steve Hemmerstoffer aka OnLeaks. Moreover, he has also shared the renders of the Pro version.
Xiaomi 13
Firstly, there have been some changes to the design of the camera module. The housing is squarer than the one on the Xiaomi 12. Furthermore, the display is flat instead of curved on its predecessor. Xiaomi once again takes inspiration from the iPhone. The frame and the shape of the buttons are the same as iPhone 14.
Another huge change is on the front of the device. The bezels are now symmetrical and the look is similar to what an S22 looks like. Coming to the dimensions of the device, they will measure 152.8 x 71.5 x 8.3 mm (10.3 mm including rear camera bump). In addition, the display will be a 6.2″ flat panel.
We expect the display to be an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Adding on, the device will be most probably powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2.
Xiaomi 13 Pro
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is more like an incremental upgrade. It will have a 6.65″ Curved OLED panel. Moreover, the design of the camera module has also changed. It will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2. The dimensions of the device measure roughly 163.0 x 74.6 x 8.8mm (11.8mm including the rear camera bump). The Pro version is less of a change when it comes to the design apart from the camera bump.
Thoughts
The designs of the Xiaomi 13 series are a downgrade from last year in my opinion. However, the flat display and symmetrical bezels are a welcome change. I term these designs as a downgrade because last year’s devices looked more professional and gave an executive feel. The camera bump was designed a lot better. Let us know your thoughts about the design changes.
