The iPhone SE series is a treat for people looking for affordable and portable phones. In 2020, Apple revived the SE series with the iPhone SE 2. Later in 2022, we got the iPhone SE 3. Disappointingly; it came with an outdated design copied straight from iPhone 8. Although; it features a new chipset and few improvements; the design is still unacceptable in 2022. For the next iPhone SE 4, we expect a radical change in the display. Will iPhone SE 4 feature Dynamic Island, a traditional notch, or stick to the 16:9 aspect ratio? Let’s see what the leaks have to say.
Will iPhone SE 4 feature Dynamic Island?
Don’t expect Dynamic Island on the iPhone SE 4. According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young, the iPhone SE 4 will feature a 6.1-inch LCD display and a “notch” cutout at the top of the display. So we are getting a traditional notch with the next iPhone SE which is not a big shocker as previous leaks also hinted at an iPhone XR-inspired design.
Now, another interesting question pops up; whether the iPhone SE 4 will include Face ID or stick to Touch ID? If Ross is correct about iPhone SE 4 having a notch, then we shall forget the capacitive Touch ID Home button thanks to less space. However, Apple could still implement Touch ID with the power button, just like on iPads.
Another debate is that Apple should implement Face ID as it will be around 6 years of technology at the time of the iPhone SE 4’s release. But we all know how Apple operates. They will probably cut the costs and go for a cheaper Touch ID solution.
The next generation of iPhone SE is expected to hit the market in 2024. Our safest bet for the inspiration behind the next generation is the iPhone XR. There are some people who hate the idea of a 6.1-inch iPhone SE, but in my opinion, it is an ideal size. Not a Mini size, but one that can be pocket-friendly and easy to operate.
