iPhone 14 Series Satellite Connectivity Feature Due For Further Expansion!

iPhone 14 series was made official with four new models. iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max. This year, the difference between the Pro and Non-Pro iPhones has been widened. Moreover, the mini is replaced by the new iPhone 14 Plus. While the Pro models get a new front design and an upgraded camera system. Another new feature added to the iPhone 14 series is satellite connectivity in case of emergency. However, this feature is still limited to some regions.

What Is Emergency SOS Via Satellite?

In the case of an emergency, if you don’t have a cellular or WiFi connection, you can ask for help via satellite. This new feature is added to all the iPhone 14 models. However, it is limited to US and Canada only. This service is free for two years. After that, Apple might start charging for this service separately.

Satellite Communication Will Come To More Regions

Apple has told MacPrime that this feature will make its way to more regions. Apple has committed $450 million to polish the satellite infrastructure. Some regions will receive this functionality in 2022 while some are slated to receive it in 2023.

Moreover, the iPhone 14 series general sales are also starting from tomorrow except for the iPhone 14 Plus. The Plus will make its way to the market in October. Pre-ordered units have also shipped. If you haven’t made a decision yet, here is what the iPhone 14 series offers.

iPhone 14 & 14 Plus

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have the same A15 Bionic as the iPhone 13 Pro models. The iPhone 13 Pro series had the A15 chip with 5 GPU cores as compared to 3 GPU cores on the A15 chip in non-pro iPhone 13 models. Moreover, the new iPhones have an upgraded internal design with upgraded thermals.

iPhone 14

The base model has a 6.1″ OLED 60Hz panel while the Plus model has a 6.7″ 60Hz OLED panel. These new iPhones also have the Crash Detection Feature as well.

There is a new main 12MP sensor at the rear. Which is larger and has a 49% low-light improvement than its predecessor. Moreover, the new selfie camera with AF also has a  38% low-light improvement. Lastly, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus start at $799 and $899 respectively.

iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max

iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max have upgraded 120Hz promotion OLED displays. Moreover, the displays on both have 2000 nits of peak brightness. Both have LTPO panels which can vary refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. There is a new punch-hole cut-out instead of the notch. Apple has named it the ‘Dynamic Island’.

iPhone 14

Moreover, the Pro models are powered by the all-new A16 Bionic chipset. Another huge upgrade is the new camera system. The main rear camera is a 48MP sensor. It is a quad-pixel sensor and is 65% larger than the last generation. There is an adaptive flash that helps in low-light photography. The other two sensors are 12MP ultra-wide and telephoto sensors. Lastly, the iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and the Pro Max starts at $1099.
