Huawei P50 Pocket was released back in December of last year. It was Huawei’s answer to Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phones. But now, it seems like Huawei is going aggressive with the foldable market. Some rumors have emerged on the web suggesting a new watered-down version of the Huawei P50 Pocket which we will be addressing as the Huawei P50 Pocket Lite.
Previously, an unknown Huawei phone with the model number BAL-AL80 passed the 3C certification. It is considered to be our protagonist, a new version of the Huawei P50 Pocket vertical folding screen mobile phone.
Thanks to the TENAA certification, we have an idea of the potential design of the Huawei P50 Pocket Lite. It comes with a dual-color theme and a circular camera module.
A famous tipster FactoryDirectorShiGuan has also shared some details of the unannounced smartphone. According to their Weibo post, the Huawei P50 Pocket Lite will be a low-end model. It is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 778G processor, which targets a high-end mid-range market.
However, the tipster claims that the phone will keep the latest software features. It will come with the new Huawei XMAGE imaging system and the latest HarmonyOS 3.0 operating system.
Huawei P50 Pocket Lite Pricing
There is no official announcement from the company. However, a leaked poster is circulating on the web. According to some Weibo tech bloggers, the above poster is fake.
Interestingly, the fake poster claims two variants: 256GB and 512GB. They are priced at 4,999 Yuan ($721) and 6,999 Yuan ($1,010) respectively. The poster also shows two color options white and black. Lastly, it also states that the device sports a 120Hz OLED panel with a dot notch.
Affordable foldable phones are coming
Huawei P50 Pocket Lite is allegedly 50% less than the original P50 Pocket’s starting price of over $1,400. Hence, it will give some competition to the foldable market which is currently dominated by Samsung. Chinese manufacturers have picked up the pace, and it is not long before we see more affordable vertically foldable phones. This also gives Samsung some pressure to work on a cheaper Galaxy A Flip phone.
