Nothing Phone (1) has been launched globally. It has been surely one of the most hyped phones of all time. Here’s a little background on the Phone (1). Nothing held a virtual event in March in which they revealed their plans about launching the Phone (1). They made it clear that they were not an audio company. Moreover, Carl Pei revealed that their vision was to create an ecosystem of products to go against Apple.
The much-anticipated Nothing Phone (1) can be found in the Pakistani market as well. However, these are not officially launched. Private sellers have imported some units and almost all of them are non-approved by PTA. The common price is around 115K PKR for the 8/256GB variant. So, at this price, should you buy this device? Firstly, let us recap what this device offers.
Design
The design was officially unveiled weeks ago. The device also comes in black. Moreover, the packaging is also minimal. It doesn’t have a charger as well. So, that’s not revolutionary. There is a glyph interface on the back as well. This is the main highlight of the design apart from its transparent look. It works as a notification indicator, battery charging indicator, wireless charging indicator, and lights up for patterns for ringtones as well. Lastly, another notable thing is the symmetrical bezel all the way around.
Specifications
Nothing Phone (1) is powered by the Snapdragon 778G+. Moreover, the display is a 6.55″ 120Hz flexible OLED panel. Bezels are symmetrical and the punch-hole is towards the top left. The display also houses an in-display fingerprint scanner. It weighs 194g and measures 8.3mm thick. The phone packs a 4500 mAh battery which will charge at a maximum of 33W. In addition, the device supports 15W wireless and 5W reverse wireless charging as well.
The device runs on Android 12-based Nothing OS. Moreover, it will get 3 years of major Android updates as well. Moving on to the camera system, the device has a 50MP main IMX766 sensor with OIS and EIS. It is accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide sensor as well. The front selfie shooter is a 16MP lens.

Should You Buy?
The specifications of the device are similar to what a premium mid-range device from any brand would offer. However, the one thing that differentiates this one is the software and unique design. But is it enough for you to pull the trigger? The price at which the device is available in Pakistan is similar to the global price. At this price, this device should be in consideration.
However, there is a catch. The PTA approval taxes will make this device’s price above 150K. At that price, you should look for better options. Therefore, if you can use two phones at once, you can buy a non-approved Phone (1) if priced similarly to global pricing. However, it isn’t a good value after PTA approval charges.
