Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will be launching soon in China. The launch date has been confirmed by the Chinese tech giant. Mix Fold 2 will be launching in China on the 11th of August. That means we will see Xiaomi’s reply to Samsung‘s folding phones just a day after their launch. Moreover, Motorola’s Razr 2022 will also launch on the same date. The ‘Folding Season‘ is upon us!
Design
Not much has been revealed yet by Xiaomi. However, leaks and rumors have provided us with a glimpse of what to expect. The Mix Fold 2 will be only 5.4mm thin when unfolded. That is an insane thickness achieved by Xiaomi. In real life, the unfolded Mix Fold 2 will be only a bit thicker than a USB-C port. That leads us to believe that Xiaomi would have managed to keep the weight of the device low as well.
Furthermore, a design sketch from Weibo also gives us a hint of the design of the device. This shows that the rear of the device will have a triple-camera setup. Moreover, it will also have a periscope lens. Leica branding can also be seen in the sketch. Furthermore, the cover display looks to have a reasonably wide aspect ratio.
Leaked Specifications
According to Twitter leaker Anthony, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset. Moreover, the front display will be a Samsung E5 OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The inner display will be an ECO-OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the main lens at the rear will be a 50MP lens. Further information about the durability and the hinge is still unknown.
Thoughts
Undoubtedly, the Mix Fold 3 can be a great Fold 4 competitor. However, its availability will hold back its progress. Xiaomi and even other brands like OPPO need to step out of China and release their foldable devices globally to a wider audience. Consequently, consumers will get more options and folding phones will become more and more mainstream.
