OnePlus 10T Officially Unveiled – ‘Cheap’ Flagship?

OnePlus 10T has been released in the global market. The device was launched at an event held in New York. The next model of the flagship numbered series had already been leaked in its full glory. Now, OnePlus has officially unveiled its “cheap” flagship.

After the OnePlus 10R, it is the next flagship with no alert slider. Furthermore, the camera module is a carbon copy of the module from the 10 Pro. It takes up half of the top of the phone. Moreover, it also has a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera like the OnePlus 10R. The bezels are minimal on the front with a slightly prominent chin. In addition, the Hasselblad branding is missing on the camera bump. Lastly, the material used at the back is glass. While the frame is made out of plastic. The green version has a glossy back while the black variant is reminiscent of the iconic OnePlus Sandstone finish.

OnePlus 10T

Despite rumors of the device being powered by a MediaTek chipset, the device is still powered by a Snapdragon chipset. The OnePlus 10T is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset. Moreover, the device packs a 4660mAh battery with a whopping 150W charging support. The retail package also comes bundled with a 160W charger. OnePlus 10T has a 6.7″ 120Hz OLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Moreover, the display also supports 10Bit color. The device weighs 204g and measures 8.75mm thick.

Furthermore, the device runs on Android 12-based Oxygen OS 12 out of the box. It will get the Oxygen OS 13 later this year. Moreover, Oxygen OS 13 has also been announced alongside the 10T. For the cameras, the phone features a 16MP selfie shooter. In addition, the rear camera system consists of an OIS-enabled 50MP IMX766 sensor. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. Lastly, the device also has dual stereo speakers. However, it doesn’t support wireless charging.

The device starts at $649 US / €699EU / £629 UK / Rs 49,999 India for the base variant.

No doubt, the specifications are decent. However, only the display and the chipset don’t define a flagship. The flagship needs to have those top-end features which make it a flagship. With these specifications, plastic body, and price, the OnePlus 10T isn’t a full-blown flagship. It is a decent top-tier midrange phone. A price similar to POCO F4 GT would have been better.
