WhatsApp Chat Transfer From Android To iOS Finally Becomes A Reality

After months of speculation, WhatsApp chat transfer from Android to iOS is now possible. Previously, you could transfer chats from iOS to Android only. This much-needed feature was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post.

He announced; “We’re adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. This is a top requested feature. We launched the ability to switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now adding Android–>iPhone as well.”

It was a headache to transfer chats from Android to iOS previously. Hence, this feature was widely demanded. This update will surely make the lives easier for those shifting between both platforms. They will now be able to keep their important chats while jumping to the other side.

How To Transfer Chats

Firstly, the transfer process only works on new or factory reset iPhones. Moreover, it makes use of Apple’s existing Move to iOS app. While setting up your iPhone, choose the “Move Data from Android”, and then follow the steps in the Android app. Once you’ve completed the setup process, open WhatsApp and sign in using the same phone number. There you go! Now, your previously existing chats will appear on your iPhone.

For this process to occur,  you will need Android 5 or above on the Android device and at least iOS 15.5 on your iPhone. So, all iPhone 7 and 6s users who were disappointed with no iOS 16 should not get worried. However, if you already have an iOS chat history previously, then the imported Android history will overwrite it.
