Redmi Note 12 series may be launching sooner than you think. The Note 11 series launched at the start of the year globally. The GM of the Redmi brand stated that the Note series will be now refreshed every six months. Moreover, the devices will be more performance-focused. A report from Weibo claims that MediaTek processors will be used in the upcoming Redmi Note devices.
Expected Specifications
There are only speculations at this point. However, more and more leaks will come as we move nearer to launch. For now, it is predicted that high-performance MediaTek Dimensity chipsets will be used in the Redmi Note 12 series. Dimensity 1300 or 8000 may be featured in the Note 12 series. Furthermore, there are no details available about the display technology being used. However, we can expect OLED panels to be used.
Moreover, going by what we saw in the Redmi Note 11 series, we may see large batteries and blazing fast charging technologies. In addition, the Redmi Note 12 series may only be announced in China for now. The global launch will be held later as always. The devices get announced in China approximately two months before a global launch.
Thoughts On Six-Month Upgrade Cycle
Such an early upgrade for a device is frustrating for a consumer. A person who buys a device will feel left out when its successor drops just six months after its release. However, the consumer may have a temptation to upgrade. This is exactly what the brand wants. As a brand, Xiaomi wants to sell more devices and for them this launch cycle is ideal.
However, as a consumer, you want the latest model available. The six-month upgrade cycle may be frustrating but is tempting for sure. If Xiaomi provides meaningful upgrades in the successor, only then their strategy will be successful. Otherwise, the consumer won’t upgrade. What do you think about this launch strategy?
