It seems like Motorola wants to come back with a bang. The long rumoured Motorola Frontier has finally been leaked and it looks like it is getting a brand new 200MP sensor by Samsung.

Motorola Frontier

The Motorola Frontier was in the rumours for a long time, but now it might be near the launch. The leaked image shows a final and fully produced unit of the smartphone with a 200MP Samsung sensor on the back.

Leaked Specifications

However, apart from the camera. The smartphone gets a 6.7″ AMOLED display which is curved at the edges. The display will get a 144Hz refresh rate. The front camera will sit inside a centred hole-punch notch. Sources state that the device will be getting the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The device will have 8/12 GB ram and 128/256GB storage options. To power the device up, it will have a 4500mAh cell with 125W fast charging.

Design

The device looks really sleek from the back with a huge camera bump on the top left side. The bump houses 3 lenses. It really resembles the Xiaomi 12 series.

Camera

The main sensor on the back appears to be a 200MP Samsung H1 sensor. It is paired with 2 other sensors whose specs remain unknown. However, the 200MP sensor comes with OIS and an f/2.2 aperture. Furthermore, It will use the  2×2 pixel binning technology, which results in 50MP shots. Gets an effective pixel size of 1.28 µm.

Moreover, the device gets an 8K recording at 30 fps. Even the front camera is a 60MP sensor.

Thoughts

The numbers on this device’s camera sure appear to be insane, however, they don’t always mean better. I think Motorola will have to optimize their device in order to harness the full potential of the sensor, otherwise, it will just end up being a gimmick.

Launch

The device is expected to launch in July with no specific date.
