Apple announced the iPhone SE 3 earlier this month. The iPhone SE 3 was a spec-bump from the last generation. The second-generation SE came with the same design as iPhone 8. But, still managed to be successful courtesy of the A13 chip and the cheap price tag. The price to performance ratio was so good with the 2020 iPhone SE.
However, it seems like its successor may not continue on the path to success. Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that Apple has cut down iPhone SE 3 production volume to 15-20M units. Previously, the budgeted production was 25-30M.
Reason For Production Cut-Down
Reports claim that Apple is cutting down iPhone SE 3 production by 20% due to the ongoing Ukraine war and inflation. The demands are lower than expected due to mentioned circumstances. Reports state that this is a normal change and it was bound to happen. This change is not due to people not wanting to buy a new mid-range iPhone. Rather, it is due to the economic situation of the world.
Common Thoughts About iPhone SE 3
The third-gen SE has the same design as the last one. Same bezels on the front, Touch ID in the home button, single camera at the back, and 4.7″ LCD. However, the changes took place internally. A15 Bionic SoC is the main selling point of the budget iPhone. 5G is the second biggest upgrade. Moreover, Apple has included an upgraded camera system in the new iPhone SE. Furthermore, the iPhone SE 3 has a ceramic shield on both the front and back. The device is also IP67 certified like its predecessor. In addition, Apple claims to have improved the battery life significantly. iPhone SE is available in Starlight, Midnight, and, Product Red color options. All this starts at $429.
YouTube reviews have not been encouraging. Most of the reviewers have been disappointed. Mainly because of minor upgrades. The A13 Bionic of the SE 2 is still a lot of power for the target consumer of the SE 3. Many people were expecting an updated design. The need for Touch ID is gone as you can unlock your Face ID with a mask now as well. All these negative reviews have tarnished the image of the iPhone SE 3. However, as reported before, the SE lineup will get a design update next year. Let us know your thoughts on the iPhone SE 3.
