Apple launched the PIP or Picture-In-Picture mode for videos and streaming with IOS 14. With the help of this feature, you can watch videos or stream anything in a small window on your display while doing other things. The default video player and Safari fully supported the feature from launch, but third-party apps like YouTube would have to adapt to this. So, after years of this feature, Youtube is testing PIP mode. Here is everything about the feature, and when you can actually expect youtube to drop it.
Picture-In-Picture
IOS got this “brand new” feature with IOS 14. It was immediately much loved by the people as users had demanded split-screen usage for a long time. For now. it seems like PIP is the closest we will get to split-screen until something else is announced.
Almost all third-party applications have got in on the action of utilising the PIP feature, but Google’s YouTube still can’t get past the testing phase.
YouTube Is Testing PIP
Back in June 2021, Google announced that YouTube will be getting support for the PIP feature in the US to all the IOS users. Later it was found that the feature would only be coming to YouTube premium subscribers who pay $11.99 per month in the US. However, there was no release date announced.
Sometime later, the news came that the feature is under testing and is scheduled to roll out by January 31, but that date has been pushed back several times. But, until now youtube is testing PIP.
Again, a new expected date for the official launch of the feature is set on the 14th of February, but no official has confirmed that.
