Windows Defender Antivirus comes pre-baked in Windows. Many people like to meme it for being a bad performing antivirus. But recently, Defender has achieved full marks in the AV-Test. Not only that but it has given a hard time to its rival applications and has proved to be one of the best.

The Windows Defender came in sight with the Windows. It is a free antivirus that you get when you buy Windows. The defender started very slow, it was buggy and failed to provide a good experience. But as time went on, Microsoft kept improving the software to the point that now it’s extremely reliable in recent windows such as 10 and 11.

People have made countless memes making fun of Defender. The software hasn’t been trusted as much as other paid software like ESET or Norton Security. But this result from the AV-Test has proved that Windows Defender if not the best, is definitely one of the best software out there. AV-Tested all of the big names in the antivirus software market on multiple bases like Protection, Performance, and Availability. The Defender aced the test and came out on the top with full 18 marks. it received the “AV-TEST Top Product” certification as it scored above the threshold of 17.5 points. In addition to Windows Defender, ESET, Kaspersky, Avira, Norton and other companies also received full marks.
When we compare the price of the Defender to something like Norton, you will see a clear difference. Norton starts at $60 per year all the way to $350 per year. When you buy a copy of the Windows 10 Pro it costs a one time charge of less than $200 and you get the windows defender as well.
