Samsung has confirmed that Exynos 2200 has not been delayed or canceled. Exynos 2200 was supposed to be announced yesterday. However, Samsung changed plans. Now, the latest in-house chip by them will be launched alongside the S22 series.
Samsung officially confirmed to media outlets in South Korea (via BusinessKorea) that there are no issues with the Exynos 2200. Moreover, they have stated that the new chip will launch with “a new Samsung smartphone”.
“We are planning to unveil the new application processor at the time of launching a new Samsung smartphone,” a Samsung Electronics official said. “There are no problems with the AP’s production and performance.”
S22 Series’ Launch Date
According to the latest reports, Samsung will launch the S22 lineup on the 8th of February. Furthermore, Jon Prosser has revealed that general availability has been moved to 25th of February.
Exynos X AMD Collab
Rumors suggest that Samsung is going to use an upgraded Exynos chipset with AMD GPU. Galaxy S22 series would feature the Exynos 2200 chipset. It would feature an ARM Cortex-X2 core clocked at 2.9GHz, three cores clocked at 2.8GHz, and four cores clocked at 2.2GHz. Lastly, an AMD GPU clocked at 1300MHz. It would offer massive performance boosts and also offer ray tracing support. Tipster, Ice Universe suggests that the GPU performance could be even better than the A15 Bionic.
Skepticism around Exynos
Samsung flagships run on Exynos chipsets in selected regions of the world. Other regions have Snapdragon-powered phones. Exynos-powered phones show heating issues and are usually less stable compared to the latter. Therefore, the difference between performances is always a point of debate.
Rumors of Samsung Going All Snapdragon
Some reports suggested that Samsung was going to use Snapdragon chipsets powering S22 series’ phones all around the globe. However, these rumors were soon put to rest as an Exynos 2200 powered S22 Ultra surfaced on Geekbench.
Exynos Is Here To Stay!
According to a listing of the Galaxy S22 Ultra on Geekbench, Exynos 2200 processor (S5E9925) is confirmed. It will arrive with the international variant of the smartphone (SM-S908B). The smartphone scored 691 points in the Geekbench 5’s single-core test and 3,167 points in the multi-core test.
