Digital Chat Station, on Weibo, has leaked the launch date for the Redmi K50 series. Redmi K50 series will be revealed in February 2022. The K50 series is the successor to the Redmi K40 series. K40 series was launched under different branding in different regions of the world. In Pakistan, it was rebranded as the POCO F3. While in India, it arrived under the Mi 11x moniker. We’ll see how and when the Redmi K50 series will arrive in different markets after it launches first in China.
Variants In The K50 Series
Four different models are believed to launch in the K50 series of smartphones. All four models are said to arrive with different chipsets. According to a report from 91mobiles, the four model iterations will be running on the Snapdragon 8Gen1, Snapdragon 870, MediaTek Dimensity 7000, and Dimensity 9000. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will be allegedly running on the Dimensity 9000. Maybe the pro model will have the Snapdragon 8Gen1. While the more affordable options may have the Snapdragon 870 and Dimensity 7000 under the hood.
Expected Specifications
Redmi K50 series will be running MIUI 13 out of the box. Xiaomi 12 and 12x are tipped to launch before the K50 series and will also be sporting the latest MIUI 13. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, is also expected to come with a 64MP quad-rear camera setup. It may have some cooling mechanism inside the smartphone. The smartphone is expected to pack a 5000mAh battery, with either 67W or 120W fast charging support. Moreover, it appears Redmi will also offer IP68 dust and water resistance.
Xiaomi’s latest software skin MIUI 13 will be based on Android 12. In addition, it will have widgets inspired by iOS, a Smart toolbox, a Front camera assistant, MIUI Pure Mode, a Memory extension, some more customizations, and new MIUI+ features. Well, Xiaomi’s software is quite polarizing. Some people love it and some hate it. With a more iOS-inspired look, it will be interesting to see the reactions of android enthusiasts.
