Xiaomi, which is a smartphone giant, recently has joined hands with Select Technologies (Pvt) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Airlink. With this great news, we can say that Airlink & Xiaomi have paired up to manufacture smartphones in Pakistan.

Xiaomi recently become the world’s second-largest vendor by handset shipments in the second quarter of 2021. They shipped 53.1 million units in the second quarter of 2021 that accounting for 17% of the global market. Their aim is to be the world’s number one mobile phone company in the next few quarters.

They have sure started well. Xiaomi wants to step up its game by making its products widely available. Airlink is one of the leading manufacturers, retailers, and distributors of smartphones in Pakistan. Xiaomi teaming with Airlink to produce smartphones locally will not only support the country but will greatly cut costs such as shipping for the brand itself.

Airlink already has established a state-of-the-art mobile phone manufacturing facility working with leading global brands since the start of 2021. Xiaomi’s vision of “Make friends with users and be the coolest company in the users’ hearts” has started to make a lot more sense now.

Even in other countries like India, the smartphone giant has made a huge mark and now it’s going towards others. The company has attempted into manufacturing devices in Pakistan with Airlink. The manufacturing facility is located at Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Kot Lakhpat, Lahore and will be fully functional within January 2022.

Companies around the globe are considering Pakistan’s mobile market as an emerging market with plenty of opportunities for businesses. With the development of 3G/4G technology, there has been a notable increase in endorsers of mobile operators. Brands are taking good use of this opportunity to provide the market with flagships, as well as budget devices.
