Xiaomi recently became the #1 smartphone brand. But the brand on the other hand is facing a lot of bans. At the moment Xiaomi smartphones are banned in these six countries.

Xiaomi smartphones banned in six countries

Xiaomi smartphone holders in Cuba and other places are unable to access the Internet and are being locked out of their phones for the past few weeks. Xiaomi has been banned recently in six countries and regions including Cuba, Iran, Syria, Sudan and Crimea.

The phone locks you out of the system and shows a black screen with this text; Xiaomi’s policy does not allow the product to be sold or provided in the region where you are trying to activate the product. Please contact the retailer directly for more information. If you use a Xiaomi phone, and enter anywhere where the company is banned, you will not be able to connect to the internet or access the phone.

XDA-developers netizens informed that blocking began in September and that Xiaomi phones in the above-mentioned regions were not allowed to be sold in these region due to policy restrictions. Xiaomi does not have any official organization in Cuba, including official offices or suppliers, but the data shows that Xiaomi mobile phones have a market share of nearly 15% in the local market. Gartner data also shows that Xiaomi ranks second in the Cuban market. Being banned there will effect the brand quite a bit. These adjustment are not aimed at a certain country or region, and is mainly based on markets that have not officially entered. They said that since parallel imports, smuggling and flashing machines can easily threaten user information.

It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi’s terms clearly state that buyers are prohibited from exporting mobile phones to specific regions. Looking at how fast the brand is growing, of these bans get dropped, Xiaomi will quickly climb the scale. So, what do you think of this? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
