Now get Windows 11 on any PC – with a catch

Microsoft’s latest & greatest Windows 11 is here. Windows comes with some odd PC requirements and most PCs on the market can’t easily get it. But, the internet has found loopholes to “unofficially” get Windows 11 on any PC. Here is everything you need to know.

Microsoft will officially launch Windows 11 soon. Requirements for the new system are almost everywhere on the internet and you should be familiar, Microsoft is currently planning to support Intel’s 8th generation and AMD’s Ryzen 2000 series chips, and a small number of Intel’s 7th generation chips, and need to support TPM 2.0.

But, that won’t stop people from getting Windows 11 on their PCs. So there is a loophole for enthusiasts who want to upgrade their unsupported hardware to Windows 11.

If a user downloads the Windows 11 ISO, they won’t be required to check the hardware. By changing the installation method. Microsoft will allow users to download and install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, but users will be notified that their device is unsupported might face compatibility issues. Another option that Microsoft already allows is that users with unsupported hardware install Windows 11 through the Insider program, which will continue to run after the launch of the OS.

However, people who unofficially upgrade and get Windows 11 on any PC with an unsupported CPU will not get any updates. It will be only a one time download and then users will be forced to reinstall ISO with the updates as they get released.

How to install

Here is one of the many methods you can use to get Windows 11 on any PC by XDA;

It’s possible to replace the file in the Windows 11 setup with one from an older build of Windows 10. In order to replace the Windows 11 DLL with one from Windows 10, you’ll actually need the setup for Windows 10.

Try to update to Windows 11 through Windows Update

And if it doesn’t work, download Windows 11 ISO manually.

Once the Windows 10 ISO is downloaded, simply double-click it to mount it as a drive. Windows will show it as a DVD drive, after that you will need to

  • Navigate to the sources folder and find appraiserres.dll.
  • Copy that file somewhere convenient, like the desktop.
  • Copy the file to the Windows 11 setup (Windows Update)
  • Use File Explorer to navigate to C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources.
  • Rename the appraiserres.dll in that folder to something like appraiserres1.dll.
  • Copy the appraiserres.dll file you extracted earlier into this folder.
  • Navigate to C:\$WINDOWS.~BT. Double-click the setup.exe file. Depending on your setup, there may be no .exe extension.

Now copy the file to Windows 11 ISO

  • Burn the Windows 11 ISO to a USB drive
  • Navigate to the USB drive and open the sources folder.
  • Find appraiserres.dll and rename it to something like appraiserres1.dll.
  • Copy the appraiserres.dll file you extracted earlier into this folder.
  • Navigate to the USB drive again and double-click the setup.exe file.
