Samsung trying to triple the sales!
Samsung’s executive vice president and director of strategic marketing, Bryan Choi, reveals the companies sales plan regarding the Foldable Smartphones. He, in an interview, said that the company expects to ship 6.5 million smartphones with flexible displays (Folding Phones) this year. That is almost three times as much as last year!
According to analysts, in 2019, devices with flexible displays entered the market for the first time, and Samsung successfully sold around 700,000 units, which isn’t a lot. But in 2020, this number greatly increased to around 2.2 million units. That is when the phones also started to get more durable and better.
With the folding phones getting better and more durable, there will obviously be fans of the technology, and the number keeps increasing. Especially people who thought that smartphones were getting boring are greatly in love with this new form factor.
“With the new Galaxy Z series, we break price barriers and bring foldable innovation to more consumers. I believe that with our new Galaxy Z series, we can drive the demand for foldable phones to a new high; invite More consumers to enjoy this new way of using smartphones,” said Samsung’s executive vice president.
He also quoted the company’s own market research to add that 9 out of 10 users of foldable devices no longer want to go back to traditional smartphones. These numbers are the indication that surely there is a huge market for folding phones in the future.
