Xiaomi launched a number of products today. Most of them which we were expecting like Mi Mix 4, and Mi Pad 5. However, the tech giant shocked us by announcing CyberDog. It is a Bio-inspired quadruped robot. It can do a number of functions like controlling compatible smart home appliances such as the TV, vacuum cleaner, air conditioner, and air purifier.
Xiaomi CyberDog specifications and features
The CyberDog comes with NVIDIA’s Jetson Xavier NX AI Supercomputer for Embedded and Edge Systems. It has an AI performance of 21 TOPS, so you can imagine the possibilities with this robot. Talking about memory, Xiaomi’s CyberDog has 128GB of near-industrial grade SSD.
The smart robot is built for running, jumping, turning left or right, and leaning forward. Moreover, it can backflip, roll around, and stand on its hind legs. The Xiaomi CyberDog has a maximum walking speed of 3.2m/s and a maximum payload of 3kg.
For a robot dog, it is essential to come with a number of cameras. Well, Xiaomi takes good care of it. There are countless cameras surrounding the robot. These include AI sensors, binocular ultra-wide cameras, and Intel’s RealSense D450 depth camera. With these, the robot can avoid obstacles. The robot also has SLAM mapping and auto-tracking. For listening to your commands, the robot comes with a 6 microphone array.
How can the CyberDog be controlled?
Well, it can be controlled via 3 ways including a mobile phone app, voice control, and its own remote control (which is sold separately). Though, only selected Xiaomi’s smartphones can be used to control the CyberDog as of now. These include Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, Redmi K40, Redmi K30 5G, Redmi 10X Pro, Redmi 10X, and Mi MIX 2S.
Price
Robots don’t come cheap. Especially, with multiple sensors and high-performance hardware. But Xiaomi’s first-ever robot dog is surprisingly cheap. It has a price tag of 9999 Yuan (~$1541). For comparison, Boston Dynamic’s Spot sells for around $74,500.
