Typically we see two ROG Phones every year. In early 2020, ROG Phone 3 was launched. And later in the year, a refreshed ROG Phone 3S was also launched. Similarly, this year we are anticipating the ROG Phone 5S which will be a refreshed version of the ROG Phone 5 that launched earlier this year. A new leak has arrived hinting at key specifications of the ASUS ROG Phone 5S.

Honestly speaking, the only reason we see an “S” version of the ROG Phone is because of a new Snapdragon chipset. Snapdragon 888+ just arrived and now we will see gaming smartphones get this new chipset. The new leak also suggests the same; ASUS ROG Phone 5S will feature Snapdragon 888 Plus.

The leak also suggests a 144Hz OLED display, 6000mAH battery, and 65W fast charging support. The screenshot also reveals two memory variants for the ROG Phone: 16GB RAM + 256GB and 18GB RAM + 512GB internal storage. Till now, ASUS has not announced the smartphone. But since the ROG Phone 3S was launched back in August 2020, we expect a similar launch this year. Moreover, ASUS will not delay the launch of a new ROG phone as many more smartphones with Snapdragon 888+ are already expected including iQOO 8, Mi Mix 4, and more.

ROG Phone 5 Highlights

The smartphone comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display having a resolution of 1080 x 2448 pixels. For a buttery smooth experience, the display also features a 144Hz refresh rate.  The Snapdragon 888 SoC is powering the gaming phone with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This time, ASUS took care of decent camera sensors on the rear as well. It comes with a triple camera setup comprising 64-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel shooters. On the front, there is a 24MP selfie camera. Finally, the smartphone comes with a 6,000mAh battery that offers 65W rapid charging.
