Asus Zenfone 8 is an Android alternative to iPhone 12 Mini. If you are someone who wants a compact smartphone but it has to be Android Flagship, then Zenfone 8 is a pretty good choice. Zenfone 8 DxOMark camera review
The smartphone only has a dual rear camera setup. There is a 64MP Primary and 12MP Ultra-wide sensor. OIS is present on the primary sensor. However, even with only a dual-camera setup, it is able to give high competition to other devices. Zenfone 8 gets a Photo Score of 126 compared to Galaxy S21’s score of 123 points. Although, Pixel 5 (129 points) and iPhone 12 Mini (132 Points) are still able to score a bit higher.
Coming to the video, the Zenfone 8 scores 108 points. It is again higher than S21 (101 points. Similarly, Pixel 5 (107 points) and iPhone 12 Mini (112 points) score higher. However, there is one section where Galaxy S21 manages to beat Zenfone 8 which is zoom. S21 gets 73 points while Zenfone 8 was only able to get 54 points. Breaking it down, the Zenfone 8 gets an overall score of 120 points. It is a point more than Galaxy S21, while Pixel 5 also scores 120 points. iPhone 12 Mini takes the lead with 122 overall points.

The compact flagship smartphone comes with a 5.9-inch S-AMOLED panel. It has a high refresh rate of 120Hz and comes with HDR10+. There is also Gorilla Glass Victus protection for the glass. Coming to the cameras, the front setup is 64MP wide + 12MP ultra-wide. While, on the front, you will find a 12MP selfie shooter.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. It has fast UFS 3.1 storage as well. Coming to the battery, the Zenfone 8 has a 4000mAh capacity that can be fast-charged at 30W. Talking about software, the Zenfone 8 comes out of the box with ZenUI 8 based on Android 11. Other notable features include IP68 dust/water resistance, stereo speakers, glass back, and aluminum frame. The device is a pretty good value at $736.00 making it a lot cheaper than its competitors.
