Qualcomm with ASUS steps in the smartphone manufacturing market

Qualcomm has partnered up with ASUS to make a Qualcomm smartphone for all the Snapdragon insiders. The phone on paper looks promising so let’s get into this.

Qualcomm Smartphone

ASUS and Qualcomm have teamed up to make a smartphone that shows off some of the latter’s mobile tech. Although the phone is apparently available for the 1.6 million members only who are in the Snapdragon Insiders program.

This smartphone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. It has a 2.84 GHz octa-core processor and the Adreno 660 GPU. It comes with 16GB of LPDDR5 ram and 512GB storage. The 6.78-inch AMOLED display has a 144 Hz refresh rate. The screen has up to 1,200 nits of brightness and it’s HDR10+ certified.

Qualcomm Smartphone

Qualcomm describes this phone as “The most comprehensive support for all key 5G sub-6 and mmWave bands” of any device. There’s also Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 support, which should charge the 4000mAh battery up to 70% in half an hour or fully in 52 minutes according to the company’s claim.

The Qualcomm Smartphone has three rear cameras: a 64MP main lens, 12MP ultrawide camera and 8MP telephoto. The module can capture video in up to 8K. The device also has a 24MP front camera and AI auto-zoom.

Qualcomm Sound & Wireless Earbuds

Qualcomm says this is one of the first phones to support Snapdragon Sound, which gives us features like low Bluetooth latency, listening profiles, active noise cancellation (ANC) and high-resolution audio support up to 24-bit 96kHz. Along with stereo speakers, the phone comes with Master & Dynamic true wireless ANC earbuds and a charging case for them.

Design & Build

The phone is very well built with a simplistic design. We can see a fingerprint reader on the back along with Qualcomm branding and the camera. The display is also infinity but the bezels are definitely thicker than the other competitions.

Release & Price

The phone is expected to be available for everyone by August and it retails for $1,499 or PKR 237,975.

Our Thoughts

Qualcomm has launched this phone just to show what the chipset is capable of doing as many other companies are trying to make their own chipset. The phone looks decent on paper but can’t fully recommend it until it’s released. So, what do you think of this Qualcomm Smartphone? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
