Reason behind increasing smartphone prices in Pakistan
According to Xiaomi, they have revised their price list due to the new tax structure and increasing dollar rate. The new pricing will be effective from 6th July 2021. This is a huge price increase. In entry-level smartphones, we see a bump of 1K. However, we see a huge increase of Rs.4000 to Rs.6000 in the mid-range market. We also don’t see some phones like Redmi Note 10, which according to my sources will no longer be available in the market.
Now is Xiaomi Pakistan to be blamed? Well, it’s clear that the import duties are increased but also the USD is climbing. The price of $1 went from Rs.156.90 on 4 July to Rs.158.04 on 5 July. But it is also to be noted that this is old stock, if prices of upcoming phones were increased, it would have been understandable. Let us know your opinions on the new revised Xiaomi price list.
