ZTE just launched the Axon 30 Series consisting of 2 main phones, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra and the Axon 30 Pro. Here is what you need to know.
ZTE Axon 30 Ultra
The bigger phone of the series is the Axon 30 Ultra with its big camera and periscope lens.
Specifications
The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset, 8GB of ram, and 256GB storage. The battery is a 4,600mAh cell and supports 66W charging over a cable. There’s no wireless charging, however. The phone has 5G as well as Wi-Fi 6E and fully-featured NFC. It runs MyOS 11 (based on Android 11). The display is a 6.67” OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, however, it can’t switch to lower Hz to conserve battery. Now, let’s talk about the cameras, There are 4 cameras on the back of the device; That includes a 64MP main IMX686 sensor with OIS, another 64MP module with a slightly longer lens, and a 64MP ultra wide-angle shooter (120º, 13mm). The main camera can record video at up to 8K 30 fps. There is another 8MP 5x periscope (123mm lens with OIS).
Price & Availability
The phone will be available to pre-order on 19th April in China. It will soon launch in other markets as well. The Axon 30 Ultra will start at CNY 4,700 ($720 / PKR110,016). The elite (16/256GB) model will cost you CNY 6,666 ($1,020 / PKR155,856).
ZTE Axon 30 Pro
The ZTE Axon 30 Pro is essentially the smaller phone of the two, with a lesser price.
Specifications
The 30 Pro is equipped with the same Snapdragon 888, with a 6/128GB base option, while the display here is a 6.67” OLED panel that is left flat and now tops out at 120Hz. It has a 4,200 mAh capacity and support for 55W charging wired only. The camera department took the biggest hit as it lacks optical zoom while only having two 64MP cameras – one main and one ultrawide (120º). The other two modules are the 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. Otherwise, the phone is a really good deal.
Price & Availability
The ZTE Axon 30 Pro will retail for CNY 3,000 ($460 / PKR64176) for the base 6/128 GB model, with CNY 3,300 ($506 / PKR76,400) for 8/128 GB and CNY 3,600 ($552 / PKR84,345) for 8/256 GB variants.
Our thoughts
Although the ZTE phone appears to be great on paper, the high pricing really brings it in the competition with Apple & Samsung. If you like the feel of ZTE then you may go for it, but I will suggest going for a renowned company like Apple or Samsung if you are willing to spend such a big amount.
