After the Huawei ban, they have been in a tough spot. Even after making good phones, no one seems to buy them because of no Google play services. Huawei has been working day and night and launching apps like app gallery and Huawei Search to substitute Google but as expected they aren’t even close. Huawei has been testing its HarmonyOS for the past 4 months and they have finally announced the replacement for Android to be launched in April.
What is HarmonyOS?
HarmonyOS is a family of operating systems developed by Huawei. It is an Operating System designed for smart devices such as smart TVs and it has been used as a mobile operating system. It is expected to become an open-source, free, and microkernel-based distributed operating system. Huawei first announced the initiative on 9th August 2019 to not use Android on their devices.
When will it launch?
The third beta of the software will launch on 31st March completing the software and the first device to get the complete update will be the Huawei Mate X2. The Mate X2 is Huawei’s foldable that launched with Android 10 and now will change to HarmonyOS. Another device which is rumored to be the P50 will also launch with the OS pre-installed.
Huawei P50
The Huawei P50 phones were supposed to be the first to run Harmony out of the box. Though it was never officially confirmed, the new flagships were originally scheduled for a March launch, and then now they are pushed back to May, presumably to give HarmonyOS the finishing touches, and then the phone will launch alongside the new OS.

Twitter user HoilNDI posted some renders of the Huawei P50 and the P50 Pro+, and we also have some leaks which could be the potential spec-sheet of the Huawei P50. The leaked specifications are as follows; Huawei P50 Pro model, will be equipped with HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chip, run Harmony OS, 6/8GB storage and OLED screen, and provide 128/256GB body storage along with a Penta periscope camera and a 5500mAh battery.

We are excited about the phone and the Harmony OS. I personally can’t wait to see how it all comes together. What do you guys think? Will the Harmony OS be a good substitute for android? Will the P50 be the strongest in the camera game? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
