With every major smartphone company coming out with a 5G phone or keeping 5G as a premium feature, they are costing more. It does make sense in those places where 5G is accessible, but what about those countries where there is no 5G support? like Pakistan, So the question arises, Should you pay extra for 5G smartphones in Pakistan?
First, let’s explain to some of you that don’t know
What is 5G?
5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone
5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries.
The top speed that can be observed on 4G networks is around 100Mbps, but that does not mean you will get it everywhere, getting full speed has some conditions, now with 5G, the top speed you can get is around 10 gigabits per second or around 1250Mbps which is a lot faster than 4G.
Many smartphones are getting 5G as a premium feature because imagine that much data speed on daily life basis, your work would be done in seconds, uploading a video, downloading a movie all in a matter of a few secs.
We talked about 5G phones, now let’s talk about
5G Smartphones in Pakistan
If we talk about 5G Smartphones in Pakistan, there are many! Almost every major company has introduced at least one smartphone which has the capability of the 5G wideband.
Flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra or the iPhone 12 series have 5G, based on being premium and because of launching internationally, but some of the new phones in the budget territory are also bringing 5G with them as a premium feature like the newly announced Samsung A52 5G.
So it is true if you say that the Pakistani smartphone market is getting flooded with 5G capable phones. So now the big question comes up:
Should you pay extra for 5G smartphones in Pakistan
Now, Should you pay extra for 5G smartphones in Pakistan? the clear answer is NO! as there is no 5G connectivity right now in Pakistan it makes no sense to pay extra for a phone just to get 5G. Until 5G is widespread and easily available in Pakistan there is no need to pay extra for the “gimmick” of 5G.
However, if you like the extra power that comes along with the 5G tag as many of the phones with “5G” in their name usually have a better spec-list than their 4G variant. So if that’s your choice and you want the top-tier specifications and have to pay extra for the 5G version it would be understandable, but paying extra just to get the 5G tag with your phone is no worth it if you ask me. New phones are coming out every day until 5G is available in Pakistan you should hold, and once 5G is here you can buy the latest phone and enjoy 5G!
