issues are now resolved after a temporary workaround

One of the most hated browsers is no other than Internet Explorer. We used that browser only for installing another browser on our new PC. For getting so much hate, Microsoft ended the support for Internet Explorer. And now we get Microsoft Edge, which is based on chromium. The browser is capable thanks to the chromium, but still, Microsoft was unable to beat Google’s search engine aka Chrome. Though, I am not going to talk any more about Explorer, but about the new issue causing Microsoft Edge to crash.

Today The Verge reported a terrible yet funny incident of Microsoft Edge browser. The Verge reported that some users were facing a random crash phenomenon. According to affected users, what they have in common is that they set the default search engine to Google Search and try to enter characters in the address bar (the address bar, the search bar).

Microsoft Edge browser will crash if you make Chrome your default search engine

The issue was not only faced on Windows but also on macOS.Microsoft while investigating the issue suggested the users turn off “search suggestions” or use other search engines in Edge’s settings. If you are also facing the issue, then you can change the default browser directly through edge://settings/search. Though, the Microsoft Edge crash issue has been resolved thanks to a temporary workaround.

Microsoft Wants You To Use Bing?

If you’re wondering that Microsoft did that does on purpose then it’s not the case. According to sources, the issue was caused by an error in the return value of Google’s times API.

Being a Microsoft product, Edge encourages the user to use Bing as its default search engine. However, we can change it to any other search engine in the settings. Personally, I can say without any shame that Microsoft Edge does the job pretty well. Since it is based on chromium, I can still use my Google Chrome extensions without eating half of my RAM. Do let me know the browser of your choice in the comments section below.
